Cake Smash Session

As a photographer, I always love trying new and creative photoshoots, and a cake smash session is definitely one of my favorites. There's just something about the combination of adorable babies, yummy cakes, and the inevitable messiness that makes it so much fun and rewarding.

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a 1-year-old girl's milestone & cake smash, and let me tell you, it was a blast! We started the session with a boho inspired outfit and background. She looked absolutely precious in her floral crown!

Time to smash the cake!

Next we transitioned to a simple cream colored backdrop with a green vine and light pink peony flowers. I made her a custom cake stand to match our theme. Her mother and I both ordered the same cake topper! Great minds think alike. :)

The best part was capturing all those candid and spontaneous moments of joy, curiosity, and mischief on camera. It was like a little party just for him, and I was so glad to be able to freeze those memories for his parents to treasure for years to come.

Sweet little Elliot was so cute and full of energy, and she loved digging into that big, fluffy vanilla cake. It was a sight to behold as she smeared frosting all over her face, hands, and clothes, and even tried to eat the cake topper.

Overall, a cake smash photography session is a must-have for any parent who wants to celebrate their child's first birthday in a fun and memorable way. It's a great way to document the milestone and let your little one have some messy, sugar-filled fun. Just make sure to have a big bag of wipes and a change of clothes on hand, because things can get messy (and that's half the fun)!

So if you're considering a cake smash photoshoot for your little one, don't hesitate – go for it! Trust me, you and your child will have a blast, and the resulting photos will be worth every bite of cake.
